Deliberate fires started across borough

FIREFIGHTERS were called to six deliberate fires across the borough over the weekend.

On Saturday, crews went to domestic rubbish fires at Cawthorne Close, East Herringthorpe, and Bethel Road at Eastwood.

There was another rubbish fire on Holmes Lane, Hooton Roberts, at about 8.45am on Sunday.

Later, crews were called out when pallets and timber were set alight on Silverdales, Dinnington, at about 10.45pm.

An area of grassland was set alight on West Hill, Blackburn, shortly before 9pm and a van on fire at Grange Lane, Scholes.

Three fire engines attended a blaze at a timber yard on Fenton Road, Greasbrough, at about 5.40pm on Sunday. This was recorded as accidental.
