Crews tackle fire at disused Swinton leisure centre

FIRE crews responded to a fire at a disused Swinton leisure centre last night.

Two appliances from Rotherham station attended at 7.15pm. The blaze began in the squash courts and spread to adjoining areas.

Crews left the scene at around 8.40pm. The fire is thought to have been started deliberately.

Firefighters from Rotherham and Dearne stations tackled a burning car transporter on Broadway, Swinton at 3am today.

The small lorry was carrying an MG F sports car — both vehicles were badly damaged.

Crews left the scene at around 3.50am. The fire is thought to have been started deliberately.
