Christmas present thief targets Thurnscoe house

A BURGLAR wrapped gifts up in a duvet in a bid to steal them and ruin one victim’s Christmas.

The young man entered a house in Brunswick Street, Thurnscoe, shortly before 5.45am today.

He prepared the present parcel and went to the woman occupant’s bedroom, but accidentally disturbed her and then fled the scene.

The force launched Operation Lockdown in October, targeting house burglary and vehicle crime.

Officers are patrolling Rotherham, looking for unlocked doors and keeping track of known offenders. So far more than 700 suspects have been arrested.
