Cash stolen in armed raid on bookies

STAFF at a bookies were robbed at gunpoint during a terrifying raid.

Two men entered Ladbrokes, on Doncaster Road, East Dene, at around 5.50pm on Sunday, September 11.

A police spokesman said it was alleged that one of the men was carrying a gun.

Det Con Sam Wardman, the investigating officer, said no-one was injured but it was "highly traumatic" for the staff.  

Det Con Wardman said: “Most of the customers in the shop were left unaware as to what happened, however when the two men left, they are said to have ran from the area towards Far Lane.

“After conducting extensive enquiries, I’d now like to ask people who were in the area at the time whether they saw anything suspicious or saw what happened.”
