Busy weekend for firefighters

FIREFIGHTERS dealt with several blazes and road traffic collisions over the weekend.

Staff from Dearne station attended a house fire on Jardine Street, Wombwell at 12.30pm on Saturday.

A washing machine had caught fire but was out on arrival. An electrical fault was thought to be the cause. Crews left at around 12.50pm.

A Rotherham crew attended a crash on Packman Road, West Melton at 6pm on Saturday.

Staff cut one man in his twenties from a vehicle, leaving the scene around one hour later.

Aston, Tankersley and Maltby crews attended a crash on Sheffield Road, South Anston at 7pm on Saturday.

One person trapped in a vehicle was rescued by firefighters and treated by paramedics.

Maltby staff attended a skip fire on Orchard Croft, Kiveton Park at 4am on Sunday.

The crew left after around 20 minutes — the fire is thought to have been started deliberately.

Rotherham station attended a crash on New Wortley Road, Greasbrough at 12.30pm on Sunday.

A car and a motorbike were involved in the crash. Staff left around half an hour later.

A crew from Maltby attended a kitchen fire on Ascension Close, Maltby at 3.45pm on Sunday.

They put out the accidental grill pan fire, leaving the scene around 20 minutes later.

Two Rotherham crews attended a traffic crash at Roughwood Road, Kimberworth Park at 1.30am today.

A Vauxhall Corsa collided with a parked car and one man was trapped. Staff removed him from the vehicle and left around 45 minutes later.
