Burglar jailed for almost three years

A MAN has been jailed for 32 months for burgling a house in Conisbrough.

Shane Walker (29) of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to burglary at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday.

Police were called to the house on Windmill Avenue on May 18, after a neighbour noticed suspicious behaviour there.

Walker had smashed the rear patio doors, ransacked the home and piled electrical items next to the door, as though ready to remove them.

When an officer went to the rear of the house, two men jumped out the front window and ran from the scene.

CCTV and forensic evidence tied Walker to the crime and he was arrested in early June.

PC Katie Gannon said: “Burglary can leave victims feeling frightened in their own homes.

“Walker’s actions that day clearly showed he meant to take numerous items from the property for his own financial gain.

“He has accepted responsibility for his crime and is now behind bars.”
