Attempted murder charge over shooting incident

A MAN has been remanded in custody after being charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm in connection with a shooting incident.

The 26-year-old man, who we are not naming for legal reasons, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon following police activity in the Hoyland area of Barnsley.

He was questioned by officers about the reported incident in Chapeltown, after which five men and one woman, were arrested in connection with the incident on Friday in the Upper Wortley Road area of Rotherham and later bailed.

Police were called at around 11pm on Friday following reports shots had been fired in the  Burncross Road area.

Nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident.
