Arsonists hit Swallownest supermarket

FIREFIGHTERS were called out after arsonists targeted a supermarket early on Friday.

Three crews attended the Co-op on High Street, Swallownest, shortly before 1am.

Seven metal goods cages to the back of the store had been filled with cardboard and set alight.

A fire service spokeswoman said the blaze had spread to one of the building's windows, causing smoke damage inside.

She added that the cause was believed to be deliberate.

Crews from Aston, Mansfield Road and Maltby were at the scene until about 2.30am.
