Appeal after Rotherham High Street shops are vandalised

TWO suspected vandals have been arrested after shops in Rotherham town centre were "tagged".

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a man and a girl were seen leaving “tags” on the doors and security blinds of shops and offices on High Street at around 5pm on Tuesday.

A police spokesman said: “A number of tags were sprayed in black paint and have also been seen previously in silver paint.

“Police have released photos of the tags and are asking the public to come forward if they know who is causing the damage, or who may have seen anything.”

The male graffiti suspect is described as being white and was wearing blue tracksuit bottoms, a purple jacket and white trainers at the tie of the incident.

The girl had long dark hair and was wearing ripped jeans and a green jacket.

A 29-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of damage but officers are still urging witnesses of the vandalism to come forward.
