12-month ban for Rotherham grandad with nine kids in his car

A GRANDAD who was caught with nine children in his Ford Focus on a school run has been banned from driving.

Jozef Klempar (48), of Holmes Lane, Rotherham, appeared before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court charged with using a motor vehicle in a manner likely to cause danger and for having no insurance or MOT.

He received a 12-month disqualification, £400 fine for having no insurance, £150 for carrying excess passengers and £85 costs.

Klempar, who was sentenced two weeks ago, was caught when police responded to a call on April 17 from a member of the public reporting a car containing children not wearing seatbelts was being driven near to Thornhill Primary School.

When police arrived at the scene officers also discovered he had no child seats, was uninsured and had no MOT.

PC Luke Bugdol was the officer who attended the scene and found eight children aged six to 11 crammed into the passenger seats and foot wells, while one child was in the front seat of the five-seater car.

The car (pictured) was seized and officers visited the house to talk to the family about the seriousness of the crime.

Nine days after the incident PC Bugdol charged Klempar’s 28-year-old son, Dezidor Tuleg, with similar offences after he was found carrying seven children in a Mercedes wearing no seatbelts.

Tuleg will appear at the same court on December 10 charged with using a motor vehicle in a manner likely to cause danger and for having no insurance.

PC Bugdol welcomed the sentence and said the courts had dealt with Klempar robustly.
