Couple taken to hospital after pan blaze

Firefighters were called to Bawtry Road, just after 3am on Sunday.

The fire was already out when they got there, but a man in his 20s was suffering smoke inhalation and given oxygen therapy.

Ambulance crews took him to hospital as a precaution, along with a woman, also in her 20s, who was suffering shock.

Firefighters  urged householders to throw out chip pans and replace them with thermostatically-controlled deep fat fryers, or use oven chips.
