Council still waiting on Frankie and Benny's

THE future of a restaurant proposal which would bring 90 jobs remains unclear more than two months after the planning decision date.

Frankie and Benny’s resubmitted an application to build a family diner at Parkgate Shopping in September.

Their original plan was rejected because it might “divert trade and investment” from Rotherham town centre.

But the borough council has since been offered a £130,000 boost for the town centre, under a Section 106 agreement, if it allows permission.

A final decision had been expected on November 7. A council spokesman said: “The decision regarding the application for Frankie and Benny’s is still under due consideration.

“We are awaiting documentation from the applicant without which we are unable to proceed with the application.”
