Cops find scooter stolen in Mexborough

OFF-ROAD cops discovered a scooter stopped in Rotherham had been pinched in Mexborough.

The grey vehicle was found to have a false plate and linked to a robbery.

The South Yorkshire Off-Road team said the rider had been dealt with for traffic matters and information passed on to CID to continue their enquiries.

Officers also questioned a rider found to have no insurance after he was stopped on the Transpennine Trail in Sprotbrough.

Another bike was confirmed as being stolen from Scunthorpe after being spotted in Rotherham.

Two riders were also questioned by police who saw them riding a quad bike and a pit bike in Barnsley.

“This was following complaints from members of the public about them riding on the football pitch being abusive and throwing litter all over the pitch,” said a spokesperson.

“Both young riders initially made off but were stopped quickly.”

They added that officers were now “working into the early hours and using different vehicles” and promised more changes in tactics were planned in the coming months.
