Child sex abuse trial: Eight guilty of 19 abuse offences

The jury in the trial of the men at Sheffield Crown Court this afternoon returned guilty verdicts against all the defendants on all charges.

The charges relate to offences committed against three girls in Rotherham between 1999 and 2003.

Sageer Hussain (31), of Clough Road, Rotherham was found guilty of four counts of rape and one of indecent assault.

Basharat Hussain (40) was found guilty of indecent assault.

Mohammed Whied (32) of Psalters Lane, Kimberworth, was found guilty of  aiding and abetting rape.

Asif Ali (31), of Clough Road, was found guilty of rape.

Ishtiaq Khaliq (33), of Carlisle Street, Rotherham, was found guilty of  rape and three counts of indecent assault.

Waleed Ali (34), of Canklow Road, Rotherham, was found guilty of rape and indecent assault.

Masoued Malik (32) of Bridgewater Way, Rotherham, was found guilty of  rape, false imprisonment and conspiracy to commit indecent assault.

Naeem Rafiq (33), of Clarendon Road, Eastwood, — was found guilty of  conspiracy to commit indecent assault and false imprisonment.

This afternoon’s verdicts came after Her Honour Judge Sarah Wright told the jury — which has been deliberating since last Tuesday — that she would accept majority verdicts.

The men were remanded in custody and will all be sentenced on November 4.
