Car accident man still fighting for life

AN 82-year-old pedestrian who was seriously injured in a collision involving a reversing car remains in a life-threatening condition.

The pensioner was rushed to Rotherham General hospital after he was knocked to the ground in a collision involving a red Ford Fiesta, on Elm Tree Road, Maltby.

The hatchback was reversing on waste land at around 10am on Saturday  when the incident occurred.

It then collided with a wooden fence and a detached concrete garage and another car before coming to a stop.

Giving an update on the injured pensioner’s update this morning (25), a police spokesman said: “The gentleman is still sedated and ventilated and his condition is described as life-threatening.”

The driver of the Fiesta, a 52-year-old woman from Tickhill, was not hurt in the incident.
