Boy (7) sustains “serious injuries” in scooter collision

POLICE after appealing for witnesses after a seven-year-old boy was left with serious injuries following a collision with a scooter.

The incident happened on Merrill Road, Thurnscoe, at around 7.10pm on January 27, when the boy had just got out of a taxi.

The collision with the black Aprilia scooter occurred near the junction of Beach Lea.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “The youngster was taken to hospital with leg and head injuries, which are described as serious.

“Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision.”
