Boston Castle restoration plans on show

PLANS to restore a well-loved landmark will be on display at an open meeting next week.

Work to transform derelict Boston Castle will begin this summer—after a successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid and funding from Rotherham Borough Council.

The Friends of Boston Castle and Parklands are inviting all interested parties to visit Thomas Rotherham College’s community learning centre, Moorgate, on Monday  at 6.45pm.

Group secretary Janet Worrall said: “All past members of the friends group will be particularly welcome and also anyone interested in becoming a member.

“The architect’s plans for Boston Castle and the new learning centre/café will be on display, together with the proposed plans for the courtyard area.”

The £1.7 million project includes £590,000 announced by the HLF at the start of this year.

Battlements will also be re-instated in original salvaged stone, windows replaced with 18th century designs and a first-floor viewing platform built.
