Blaze at Canklow metalworks

FIREFIGHTERS tackled a titanium blaze at a precision metalworks.

Three engines from Rotherham, Darnall and Elm Lane stations attended AMG Superalloys on Fullerton Road, Canklow at around noon on Sunday.

Crews used a flame-suppressing powder to put out burning metal filings, which are thought to have caught fire accidentally.

It took over two hours to make the scene safe — the final crew left at around 2.30pm.

Firefighters were called to a car fire at Red Hill, Kiveton Park on Monday morning, shortly after midnight.

One crew from Aston Park attended, using a hose reel to put out the burning vehicle, leaving the scene at 12.50am. The cause of the fire could not be determined.

An engine from Dearne fire station attended a burning car on Coaley Lane, Wentworth last night.

It arrived at 7.20pm, spending almost one hour tackling the blaze with two hose reels. They left the scene at 8.13pm — the fire is thought to have been set deliberately.
