Bank workers make Rotherham Hospice funds their business

BANK workers are hoping to make big money for Rotherham Hospice by starting their own business.

Staff from NatWest’s Wickersley branch have signed up for the hospice’s BIG Fundraising Challenge, which aims to raise over £20,000.

The challenge, sponsored by Oxley & Coward Solicitors, is open to everyone, and encourages schools, businesses and community groups to turn a start-up loan of between £10 and £250 from the hospice into a much bigger sum within 14 weeks.

NatWest staff have chosen a silver loan of £50 and are expected to raise a minimum of £500.

Branch Manager, Clare Morris-Shepherd said: “We love fundraising and our customers are always very supportive.

“We decided the BIG fundraising challenge would be perfect for us.

“My nan used to make gift tags out of old Christmas Cards and take them to the hospice, so we thought we'd make our own tags and sell them as part of our challenge.”

Hospice campaigns Manager, Anne Giblin, said: “This is a brilliant challenge for anyone of any age to get involved with.

“It can be used as an enterprise challenge, or purely for fun.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how everyone puts their loan to use.  I'm sure there will be some fantastic fundraising ideas.

“The community of Rotherham never let us down, and this is a great way to raise money to provide our Hospice services.”

The BIG Fundraising Challenge launched last week and runs until March.

You can still sign up by registering online at www.rotherhamhospice.org.uk or calling on 01709 308917.
