The group creates their inimitable sound by setting Mediaeval texts to original scores with the use of both classical and mediaeval musical instruments, while singing in an array of long forgotten languages.

Katharine Blake, Emily Ovenden, Esther Dee, Bev Lee Harling, Melpomeni and Sarah Kayte Foster are accompanied live by an additional four musicians.

In their twelve-year career The Mediaeval Baebes have performed all over the world and have sold almost half a million records.

Their albums have consistently reached the top of the UK classical music charts whilst their hauntingly beautiful music has captured the imagination and devotion of music lovers throughout the world.

The Baebes’ contribution to the BBC production of The Virgin Queen in 2007 resulted in an Ivor Novello award for best television soundtrack.

Their latest album,Illumination, crosses genres in a way that no other classically-inspired artist does and dips in and out of filmic soundscapes, world music and contemporary and Mediaeval inspired compositions.

The band are currently working with renowned Creative Director Micha Bergese (Jeff Wayne's War Of The Worlds, Shaolin Wheel Of Life, Millenium show at The Dome) and are creating a brand new theatrical spectacular for 2011.
