Organiser Rachel Horne, who was born during the Miners’ Strike, said the idea was to fuse some of the traditions of a miners’ gala with a music festival.

The event will kick off at 10.30am  at Denaby Main Cenotaph for a “silent march” behind union banners, which will commemorate the strikers’ march back to work in 1985.

Other events include a wreath-laying in memory of the Cadeby Pit Disaster followed by an exhibition, banner display memorabilia fair and a film screening and a variety of other activities.

As well as the traditional events, the BOMfest musical festival will feature two marquees showcasing  nine  live bands, Mucky Blond, Mick Mac Menace, the Cavaliers, and Deadtime Philharmonic, and six DJs.
