Armed robber flees after raid foiled

AN armed robber used a metal bar in an attempt to break into a shop in North Anston on Friday night

A man wearing a white motorcycle helmet entered the MJM News and Booze store on Quarry Lane at 8.35pm and attempted to break into the till using a long metal bar.

A 49-year-old woman shop worker raised the alarm and the robber fled the store empty- handed. The shop assistant was not injured during the incident.

The offender has been described as a man in his late 40s and about 5ft 9in tall, wearing a white motorcycle helmet.
