Animal charity offers £1,000 reward to catch superglue cat attacker

A REWARD for £1,000 has been offered by a charity to help catch the cruel yobs that superglued a cat’s tail to her eye.

Animal charity PETA was shocked to read the Weekender report about Charlie the cat who lost an eye after what appeared to be a “sick” superglue attack.

After going missing for five days, Charlie returned to her Swinton home with the skin above and below her eye missing and a trip to the vets resulted in the five-year-old cat having her left eye removed.

Now, the charity has put forward the reward in a bid to convict the “heartless thugs” that attacked Charlie.

Ben Williamson of PETA said: “It is imperative that any community faced with such horrific abuse of animals take measures to find the culprit or culprits and stop the violence.

“Animal abusers are a danger to everyone — they take their issues out on whoever is available to them, human or non-human.

“Because animals cannot report incidents of abuse against them and can do little to fight back, they are the perfect ‘practice’ victims for violent people.”

Mr Williamson said that history showed incidents involving cruelty to animals appeared regularly in the records of serial rapists and murderers.

He added: “Young killers Mary Bell, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables as well as serial murderers Ian Huntley, Fred West and Raoul Moat all started out by deliberately harming animals.

“PETA is urging residents to keep a watchful eye on their animal companions and to keep them indoors.”
