Accidental blaze quickly controlled by fire crews

A BLAZE which saw five fire engines attend at its peak has been recorded as accidental.

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue warned people to stay away from the area and keep windows and doors closed near the incident at Holmes on Monday morning.

Five engines were at Steel Street shortly after 9am, and firefighters returned later to carry out more checks.

An SYFR spokesperson confirmed that the blaze had started accidentally, adding: “Well done to our crews who managed to get the fire under control so quickly.”
