50,000 businesses in South Yorkshire

SOUTH Yorkshire has seen its 50,000th business registered.

Inform Direct, which monitors registrations of new firms with Companies House, says that the number of businesses in the county has risen from 47,632 at the end of 2014.

Henry Catchpole, CEO of Inform Direct, said: “In South Yorkshire there were 8,318 new businesses formed in 2014 and in the last few months we have seen an additional 2,368 register.

“This means that since the recent recession, and at least partially sparked by it, we are seeing a real resurgence of entrepreneurial spirit.

“Right across Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley fledgling firms are flourishing and people are starting to make their dreams a reality.”
