20 years of Meadowhall

IT's 20 years since Meadowhall opened its doors to its first shoppers.

The £250m American shopping mall was an instant success.

But not everybody was happy with the centre, the brainchild of local businessmen Paul Sykes and Eddie Healey, particulalrly because of its effect on Rotherham town centre.

The Meadowhall effect, combined with that of the smaller Parkgate Retail Centre, has hit Rotherham's town centre shops hard.
