Teacher Michelle’s fine work with words spells success at St Bernard’s
Saint Bernard's Catholic High School teacher Michele Lockwood’s idea scooped the cash in the Let Teacher SHINE run by education charity SHINE (Support and Help in Education).
Let Teachers SHINE is designed to uncover the best ideas to raise the achievement of children in England, and Michelle’s Spelling Beats project impressed the judges.

“Spelling Beats will allow students to step into the role of a DJ and learn the more boring rules of language in a fun, innovative and engaging way.”
The winning project will run as a year-long pilot from next month and the more successful schemes could attract further funding.
