Former butchers shop sells at auction for £180,000
Wray’s, which had been operating since the 1960s, closed in November after reports it had entered into receivership after facing “financial difficulties”, with shoppers describing the loss as a “huge blow”.
The three-storey building on Effingham Street went under the hammer with commercial property agents Mark Jenkinson and Sons, with a guide price of £175,000.

Hide AdIt sold for £180,000 at the auction on February 28 after being described as being in close proximity to a “busy location” which would be ideal for another shop or offices.
The sale could also be suitable for a residential conversion on the upper floor, according to the sale listing.
The buyer has not been identified and plans for the building are not yet known.
