Suspected drink driver in custody after Wombwell smash

A SUSPECTED drink driver was arrested after a two-car smash.

The 30-year-old motorist was driving one of two cars which collided in Summer Lane in Wombwell, which was reported at 8.16pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesperson said yesterday: “One man is in police custody following a road traffic collision.

“Police were called at 8.20pm to reports of a two-car collision on Summer Lane. The road was obstructed for some time while vehicles and debris were cleared.

 “A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving over the prescribed limit of alcohol. No serious injuries were reported.”

A fire service spokesperson said: "Two fire crews from Dearne and Stocksbridge stations attended the collision at 8.16pm on Summer Lane."

They said one car had been on its side and "one person was helped out of the car with no injury".

 

The crews left the scene at 8:44pm.
