Man (26) in court on attempted murder charge

A ROTHERHAM man appeared in court this week charged with attempted murder.

Qamar Nain (26), of St Stephen’s Road, Rotherham, is accused in relation to an incident on February 7 when shots were reportedly fired towards a vehicle on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield.

Nain appeared before magistrates in Sheffield yesterday and was remanded into custody to appear before Sheffield Crown Court on April 11.

The victim in the incident, a 20-year-old man, suffered serious injuries as a result, police said.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder on February 17 and a second man, also age 25, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder on February 12.

Both men were released on police bail while enquiries continue.
