Jury out in murder trial over killing of Rotherham dad Adam Clapham

THE JURY in the trial of six people accused of murdering Rotherham dad Adam Clapham has retired to consider its verdict.

Four men, a women and a 17-year-old youth are all charged with killing the 31-year-old, who was found dead in Spring Street on on September 19 last year.

Sheffield Crown Court has heard Mr Clapham (pictured) and another man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were beaten and forced to perform a sex act on each other in the basement of a house while they were filmed on a camera phone.

The youth told jurors last month that he had assaulted the man who survived but was not there when Mr Clapham was killed.

The prosecution at Sheffield Crown Court said Mr Clapham had been a captive in the basement by drug dealers who believed he and the second victim had stolen money from defendany Arbab Yusuf, also known as Tony.

The victims were subjected to “repeated” beatings as well as being punched and kicked, the jury has been told.

Mr Clapham died from blunt force trauma to the head but the other attack victim managed to escape and was found in Rotherham town centre.
