Cresswell set for Millers return

SKIPPER Ryan Cresswell is set to return to the Rotherham United side for tomorrow's promotion tussle against form team Bury at Don Valley Stadium.

Cresswell, who broke his collar bone before Christmas and then picked up an ankle injury just as he was on the verge of a return, came through a practice match unscathed on Wednesday and will slot back into central defence as the Millers bid to make up lost ground in the League Two promotion race.

Defeat at Bradford City on Tuesday left them five points behind the top three, which includes Bury in second spot, and 16 behind runaway leaders Chesterfield.

Moore said: "We don't want to end up playing for one automatic promotion spot. There's a gap there but we've still got Bury, Chesterfield, Shrewsbury and Gillingham to play and if we win them then all of a sudden everything changes. It's in hour hands.

"Bury are on a fantastic run. They've won their last two away games 3-0 and we know they've got a lot of attacking flair. We can beat them but we've got to go and prove it."

Moore said he had still to decide who would drop out to accommodate Cresswell, although his mind could be made up for him if right-back Danny Coid fails to overcome the dead leg that forced him off at Valley Parade.

That would mean Johnny Mullins would move across from central defence to fill the gap, with Nick Fenton partnering Cresswell.

Top scorer Adam Le Fondre will definitely start having been rested in midweek.

Kick-off is 3pm.
