Rotherham's top shops named

SHOPS in Rotherham town centre have been given the seal of approval in a mystery shopper exercise.

Forty-eight town centre businesses and over 120 market traders were rated against criteria including signage, visual presentation, store layout, communication, product knowledge, sales and customer service.

Of the shops surveyed, 11 businesses achieved “platinum” ratings of 100 per cent, with a further 33 businesses achieving “gold” ratings of 93 per cent and above.

Those achieving Platinum ratings were Ashwoods, J&G Jewellers, Freeman Bennett Jewellers / Lionel's Engravers, Bridal Affairs, Dressed by K'S, Harmony Bridal Wear, Herbafayre Health Food, The Frame Gallery, Riverside café and Music Xtravaganza.

The council’s Business Retail Investment Team (BRIT) commissioned the project as part of the activities undertaken under the Portas Pilot scheme.
