New era dawns for Rotherham's historical archives

ROTHERHAM’S popular Archives and Local Studies Unit is set to re-open after a three-month closure.

The service will re-open on the ground floor of Clifton Park Museum after as part of a re-location of services due to the closure of several Rotherham Borough Council buildings earlier this year.

The unit will resume its full enquiries service on October 1 and will also be able to accept donations again.

The unit’s opening hours are: Monday, 1-5pm; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 1-am-5pm and Saturday 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm. The unit will be closed on Friday’s and Sundays. More information is available at www.rotherham.gov.uk/archives

Clkr Amy Rushforth, Rotherham Borough Council's cabinet member for Culture and Tourism, said: "We know how popular the Archives and Local Studies Service is and how much it has been missed. So we would like to thank everyone for their patience during the closure period.”
