Duo charged with attempting to defraud pensioner

Shady Francis (26) and Billy Jay Hilton (31), both of Whitelea Road, Mexborough, appeared before Rotherham Magistrates’ Court on Monday  charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation.

Hilton has also been charged with production of cannabis and abstracting electricity.

The charges come after a bank in Wickersley called police on Friday with concerns for an elderly woman who was attempting to withdraw a sum of money for work that had allegedly been completed at her house by a group of men.

A 38-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were also arrested in connection with the incident. They have been bailed pending further enquiries.
