Donny Rovers bag away win with hospice youngsters

DONCASTER Rovers players scored a festive goal with a difference when they delighted youngsters at one children’s hospice.

The Championship footballers swapped the training ground for Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice where they spent the afternoon chatting to children and parents, handing out presents and posing for photographs.

They even had a little kick around with seven year-old Kian Critchley from Doncaster who visits Bluebell Wood regularly and is one of Rovers’ biggest fans.

Rachael Dawes, corporate fund-raiser at the hospice said: “It was fantastic to have the players come to the hospice and spend time with our families and children, who all had such a great time.

“We’re thrilled to have the continued support of Doncaster Rovers and we’d like to thank those involved with the visit which really did brighten everyone’s day.”

Shaun Lockwood, communications manager at Doncaster Rovers added: “We’ve a great relationship with Bluebell Wood and we’re keen to support our charity partner as much as possible.  

“The hospice does such a great job and the players were keen to visit and show their support and hand out some gifts to the children.”
