Second Swinton newsagent robbed at knifepoint

ARMED robbers targeted a convenience store at knifepoint in the early hours of this morning (Friday) - just 48 hours after a similar raid.

The two men struck at Select Convenience on Station Road, Swinton at 5.50am.

The store’s female manager said the men struck as she opened the shop.

The 52-year-old victim said the men “came running into the shop with a knife” and threatened her, but left empty-handed.

The woman said she was unharmed but shaken up.

South Yorkshire Police has been contacted for a comment.

Another similar attack occurred on Wednesday just two miles away at Martin McColls newsagents in Thomas Street, Swinton.

An armed robber threatened a shop worker with a knife before grabbing cash and fleeing with an accomplice.

This incident happened just before 7am on Wednesday.

A newsagent in Mexborough was also ram-raided yesterday (Thursday) morning.
