Firefighters battle accidental blazes

FIREFIGHTERS attended two accidental fires over the weekend.

Crews were called to a flat fire on Longfellow Drive in Herringthorpe at 6.20am on Saturday (8) morning.

The alert was raised after the occupant burnt some toast and crews left after half an hour.

The following day, a crew from Maltby used a hose reel to put out a car fire that was well alight on Hollyhouse Road in Ravenfield.

The incident occurred around 12.30pm and a South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said there were no injuries and the accidental fire did not spread.

The crew left the scene at 2pm.
