Crafty kids pay their respects

CREATIVE kids have been crafting their own poppy display to pay their respects.

Pupils at Laurel Academy in Mexborough made 250 poppies to produce a collective artwork, taking inspiration from the installation artwork Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red.

Sarah Hague, head of expressive arts, said: “It has been displayed in the Laurel Academy grounds for all pupils and staff to see, remember and give thanks to those who sacrificed so much.

“The kids loved making it and really wanted to share it with the wider community.”
