Major milestone reached in apprenticeship scheme for South Yorkshire businesses
The growing success of the scheme is being built on with a new expert recruited to give free and impartial advice to Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield businesses. They are linked with the most suitable training provider for their needs.
Keith Richardson, Claire Eley and Vicki Eadson, lead the hub team which meets with employers at their business, as well as online, to provide first-rate consultancy advice.

Helping business discover the advantages of apprenticeships is at the heart of what the hub does, with support in the practicalities of finding and recruiting candidates.
There is no cost to businesses in receiving this invaluable advice because it is all fully-funded.

More than 100 businesses have benefitted from impartial help and advice since the hub launched.

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Authority (SYMCA) and the South Yorkshire Colleges Partnership funds the hub which officially launched in December 2023, based at SYMCA’s office on Broad Street West in Sheffield.
Young people and adults can earn and learn on-the-job skills, study a qualification, progress in a career and gain employment afterwards with an apprenticeship.
Young people, parents and carers are made aware of apprenticeships through the hub and apprentice candidates are matched to vacancies.
